John has founded and grown two award winning, successful IT businesses from scratch that were sold in 2000 and 2018.  His first IT business was started at age 26 and he has been involved in the Washington metro area's entrepreneurial community ever since.  He continues to mentor and coach many young, aspiring entrepreneurs. He was James Madison University’s first Entrepreneur-in-Residence.  He founded and chaired the Advisory Council for the JMU Center for Entrepreneurship and co-created and co-taught a popular undergraduate entrepreneurship class, Venture Creation.  John is a former member of the JMU Board of Visitors from 2016-2025.
